But right now, Yosemite is basically making this machine a chore to use (painful to type.) For the OP, I would say, yes upgrade to El Capitan. It sounds like it will a lot like Snow Leopard which was a joy to use. OS X El Capitan is a free upgrade to every Mac user around the globe, and while we suggest that users go ahead and install Cupertino's latest and greatest desktop operating system from scratch. Once El Capitan finishes downloading, then the installation will open. You will need to accept some terms of conditions. Keep clicking 'Next' until you come across a 'Restart' window. Click on 'Restart' and your Macintosh will reboot and begun upgrading from Apple MAC OS 10.5 Yosemite to Apple MAC OS 10.11 El Capitan. It's an El Capitan full installer app. Apple made that available for those that want to upgrade, either because their system is still running Snow Leopard (which won't upgrade directly to Sierra or newer), or to upgrade to El Capitan on those older Macs that are limited to El Capitan.
Where possible, CVE IDs are used to reference the vulnerabilities for further information.
